Lifestyles of the rich & the famous

Why are we so infatuated with them?  Why are Kendall and Kylie so critical to our lives?

I am 100% guilty of binge watching celebrity reality TV shows. Sometimes, I would "accidentally" end up on the E! Channel and waste an entire Saturday watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians, followed by whatever nonsense show after.  I hate that I love them, but damn do I love to hate them. Its like watching a train wreck that's caused by a plane crash, due to a auto accident, because of a scene started by a round of fisty-cuffs. Its awful, but I can't look away and before I know it, it's 11 o'clock at night, nothing was accomplished, and my life has spiraled out of control.

I hate these shows, but why do I waste my day watching it? Well, because I didn't have anything planned for Saturday and I'm still in my pajamas. Meanwhile, these beautiful, gorgeous people on the TV are out living exciting lives, wearing expensive things, and eating lavish foods.

Do I want to be like them?

No...okay maybe... just a little bit.
But it requires work. Hair, make-up, clothes, talent, FAME (although let's be honest, no one really knows why are the Kardashians famous in the first place)

And me? Well, I'm just a 22 year old who is struggling to get out of bed.
Looking at girls like Kendall and Kylie, who are younger than me, who have way more money than I can ever imagine, who have "the look", allows me, your average  Plain-Jane, live vicariously, through their luxurious lives.

But there's something that the average TV watcher isn't seeing. There's something that isn't told to tabloid-readers and reality-show-watchers:

What happens off camera? What happens "behind the scenes"? What's their day-to-day life like when they're not filming? What about the hours and hours of business and production meetings? What does it take for them to look this glam?

As your average Plain-Jane, just getting ready in the morning alone is a pain in the butt. I can't imagine having to get ready every day, with the need to look flawless, be any less stressful. OH, then get badgered by the paparazzi and the pressure to look EFFORTLESSLY flawless.
Have you seen Kim K's high ponytail look? It looks like its going to pop her scalp off! Just looking at her ponytail makes me cringe at how tight her hairdresser tugged at her hair to get it down that slick. But, damn does she looks good.
After the MET Gala, Kendall posted a picture of her cut up legs, the result of the fabulous Balmain, metal dress she wore on the red carpet.  That girl suffered for art!

I want to live that life. I want to wear fancy clothes, drive expensive cars, look good, feel good, but I don't want any of the burden that comes along with it. I don't want to sit in the makeup chair for hours. I don't want people following me around everywhere. I don't want the responsibility of being famous and I definitely don't want any of the expectations resulting from fame.
So in the mean time, I'm going to stay cozy and enjoy fame from afar, living vicariously through meaningless television. These starlettes live fabulous lives. I can't compete with that, but I'm still going to try to work my way up to living that luxurious life because #careergoals
